The Chairman's Message ---------

Justo Benitez

If you are looking for a new or a better job IEEE-USA has many noteworthy programs to help the US members in their search.  Some of the products and services available to the members include: IEEE-USA Job Listing Service, Employment Assistance Web Pages, IEEE co-sponsored Job Fairs, Consultant’s Network information, reduced dues for unemployed members, employment workshop that can be offered at our Section if the adequate number of members show an interest and several publications and videos most of which are free to unemployed members.

If you are interested in Consultant’s Network information you can contact the Houston Section Chairman, Raymond Joseph.  His telephone is listed on the back page.  Among the publications and videos offered by IEEE-USA are “Engineers Guide to Lifelong Employability”, “IEEE-USA Guidelines for Professional Employment”, and an eight-program video series titled “How to Get a Better Job Quicker”.  The web site address to obtain detailed information on the IEEE Employment Services is, “www.ieeeusa.org/DOCUMENTS/EMPLOYMENT/employment.menu.html”.  However you can take  short cut visiting the Houston Section web page clicking on the links provided for our members.

Any member who is interested in attending an employment workshop offered by the Houston Section is encouraged to contact myself or any of the Executive Committee members.  Our telephones and e-mail addresses are listed in the Houston Section web page.  Finally I want to bring to the attention of all our members that the Region 5 Representative to the IEEE-USA Employment Assistance Committee (EAC) is Don Cravey.  Don is a member of the Galveston Bay Section and his e-mail address is “cravey_don@email.msn.com”.
