Wow,
our monthly meetings continue to get stronger and stronger and you can
sense that the attendees are sharing their interests to others because our
attendance continues to grow. Have you attended this year? Why not?
Our speakers in March, David
Baker and Ron Jones, sparked everyone's interests and left us with a warm,
sincere feeling that Y2K will not impact our electricity needs or savings
accounts.
An April 22, Dr. Ben Johnson
had a unique and thought provoking discussion on Nonlinear Dynamics,
Chaos, and the Human Brain.
But also mark your calendar
for May 27 when Harris County Judge Robert Eckels enlightens us on the
'hot' topics with the county. So mark your calendars, bring your spouse,
and share in a fun evening with us at the Engineer's Club. As a reminder,
students can come for just$5 at the door.
Do you know of someone who
wants to try out an IEEE membership? They can between
March 1 and August 15 and all applicants join for half of
|
the
full annual due rates, as well as society memberships.
We have two major conferences
being held locally this year and are searching for volunteers to help
support activities.
The Offshore Technology
Conference is scheduled for May 3 - May 6. For more information, call John
Lucey at (713) 945-5923.
In addition, May 16 - May 20 is the Vehicular
Technology Conference. Call Meera Kapur
at (713) 567-8966 for details.
Finally,
I would like to thank Roy Cosse' and his volunteer staff for the
commitment, hard work, and extreme success during the past five years
coordinating our Continuing Education on Demand Seminars.
It
goes without saying, these seminars offer unique opportunities to further
our technical development and the programs continuously received the
highest, most professionally positive feedback. Let's tip our hats to all
of you who help make this a true success.
Have
a great month and come see us at the May meeting.
