Did
you know that Engineers Week is celebrated each
year at the time of George Washingtons birthday? A
coincidence you ask? Before being our first President,
George was a military engineer and land surveyor. As a
General, he issued an order on June 9, 1778, calling for
engineers and engineering education. He is credited for
directing a growing society toward technical
advancements, invention, and education.
I wanted to take some time and
remind you of some of the offerings with IEEE. To begin
with, Engineers Week is scheduled from February
21-27 and will include a PRO-AM Day, in which, college
students spend the day working with technical
professionals. If you or your company is interested in
getting involved, please call Vincent Kwon at
713-215-8934.
If you want to participate in the
Awards Dinner, Recognition Luncheon or Engineer of the
Year Banquet, contact David E. Miller at 281-497-8700.
