JOINT SECTION MEETING ----------------------------------
Transient Voltage
Surge Suppression
space.gif (828 bytes)Bob Bell and Bob Collins of Power Correction Systems will address Transient Voltage Surge Suppression, its effects and possible solutions to the damages caused by surges. The discussions will start on how the high costs of surges is reflected in maintenance and equipment costs.
space.gif (828 bytes)Surges will be defined with emphasis on their origins and how they effect your electrical system.
space.gif (828 bytes)Bob Collins will present a technical presentation and dis-

cuss the physics of surges and the effects of surges on motors, lighting, circuits, and computers. The discussion will then cover the testing requirements that must be met by all surge suppression manufacturers. We will also discuss how IEEE and UL Standards effect the quality of surge suppression available.
space.gif (828 bytes)There will also be a discussion of the different types of surge suppression, their advantages and disadvantages followed by a question and answer period.

BIOGRAPHY ---------------------------------------------------
space.gif (828 bytes)Bob Bell is the Director of Marketing at Power Correction Systems. He attended
University of Houston in the 1950's studying architecture and technology. Over the past forty years, he has worked in the industrial sector of Houston, Texas, concentrating on developing automated processes for industrial and manufacturing applications.
space.gif (828 bytes)During the 1970's, he formed an independent organization to supply automated technology, including both information and equipment.
space.gif (828 bytes)Bob Collins is the Director of Engineering at Power Correction Systems. He obtained an Associates Degree in Electrical
Engineering Technologies in the 1960's. Bob has accumulated thirty two years of both digital and analog design experience. Through the 1970's, he specialized in designing control systems for automated welding equipment. During the 1980's, Bob formed an independent organization, providing automated design, processes, and equipment in the Houston area. He has designed hardware accelerators to cornpress/decompress scanned image data and specializes in machine automation for the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
