Beginning with the January, 2001 issue The Pocket Scope will be available ONLY on the web.  A limited number of hard copy issues may be made available to those who make special arrangements with the Section President.

When a new edition is available, an email notice will be sent to all members who have registered their desire to receive the newsletter directing you to come to the website to get your copy.  The newsletter will be available in both PDF and HTML formats.  The PDF version will accommodate easy, high quality  printing while the HTML format will provide the ability to include immediate links to other relevant information which is both on our site and external to it.  Both formats will let us use color more extensively for both text and pictures thereby increasing the overall quality and interest of The Pocket Scope.  And the timeliness will be improved and expense will be reduced dramatically.

If you would like a reminder of when the newest Pocket Scope is available and have not yet registered, please take the time to do so now.  We've made it an extremely easy 4-step process:

1 Start your email editor from the email address you want to register with us.  If your email editor starts automatically just Click HereWe'll start the email editor and fill in the appropriate information in the "to:" address.

If your e-mail editor doesn't start automatically by clicking above, start it manually and address the e-mail message "to:" majordomo@majordomo.ieee.org

2 Leave the Subject field blank

3 In the body (text) area of the message type in, or cut and paste, the following:
subscribe ieeehoustonsection

4 Press the send button

That's all there is to it.  You will be registered and will be notified when the January issue is posted.  You will also be registered to receive other important information from the Section.

Details on why we have gone to the electronic format can be found in the Nov/Dec 2000 The Pocket Scope.
