One of our very own, Mr. John Stout, a former
Chairman of the Houston Section of IEEE in 1989-90 and presently a Senior
Member, will be our guest speaker at the September 23 general Section
Meeting. With 27 years of
experience with Reliant Energy Company (formerly HL&P), John Stout
will speak to us on “The Myths of Electricity Deregulation.”
On January 1, 2003, the state of Texas will become a
deregulated, and electric energy system providing all customers a choice
for their energy provider. One
might ask, how is this really going to work?
Who is really going to benefit?
Why are we doing this at all?
John is currently Vice-President, California Asset
Commercialization in the Reliant Energy Power Generation Group.
He will illustrate his experiences from the state of California to
help us better understand what really is going to happen in Texas.
His current responsibility is to optimize the value of the 400MW
portfolio owned be Reliant Energy in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
This means quarterbacking any and all aspects of the business from
legislative activities to daily bidding strategy.
Come and join us as we celebrate John’s reunion
with the section and listen to his discussion which will enlighten us on
the future of deregulation in Texas. |
