 A Special Announcement

Houston Chapter has been selected for an IEEE Industry Application Society

Outstanding Chapter Award for 1999. This award is presented for the development of the chapter's continuing education program.

IAS Houston Chapter chairperson Sunita Kulkarni extends special thanks to

the speakers at the IAS monthly meetings. Without the support of the presenters, who pay their own travel expenses from various parts of the country, we wouldn't be able to provide the seminars. Also special thanks to Bechtel Corporation for supporting the IAS meetings by providing conference rooms, presentation tools and equipment and refreshments.

We are at the crossroads of the Engineering Profession. Engineers need to transcend traditional boundaries and wear many hats . It is no longer enough to be technically competent . We need to have broad understanding of what it takes for an organization to succeed. We require to have strategic thinking, understand business perspective, possess leadership and management skills . Houston IEEE/IAS Chapter strives to contribute towards the development of successful engineering  attributes such as sound engineering fundamentals, strong inter-personal and communication skills and high ethical standards.

We encourage Electrical Engineers to take advantage of the educational seminars offered at "no cost" by the IEEE/IAS Houston Chapter .
