We are
very lucky to have Mr. Kirk Armintor as our
speaker for the September Section Meeting.
He is a
very knowledgeable speaker on the subject of
motor specifications and Standards
The
discussion will begin with an overview of the
work process involved on IEEE Standard.
Next,
IEEE Standard 841 will be introduced with a
comparison between "standard" AC motors
and AC motors which comply with IEEE Standard
841.
Next,
IEEE Standard 841 will be introduced with a

Finally, the API Standard 541 for
Form-Wound Squirrel Cage Induction Motors - 250
Horsepower and Larger will be covered. The
discussion will center around the choices and
options which the specifying engineer must select
and address before quotation in order for an API
specified motor to be built.

Biography: Mr. Kirk Armintor is the Senior Area
Manager for Reliance Motors in the Rockwell
Automation Petroleum, Mining and Chemical
Solution Center located in Houston, Texas.
He
graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont,
Texas with a BSEE in 1970. From 1968 to 1979, he
worked for Texaco. In 1979, He joined Reliance
Electric as Supervisor of Motor Repair in
Beaumont.
He has
been a member of IEEE since 1968, authoring
papers on restoration of large AC motors,
applications on variable speed drives, and
standard for repair of AC motors in the petroleum
industry.
Mr.
Armintor is the chairperson of the IEEE Petroleum
Chemical Industrial Conference in Houston for the
year 2003. He also is co-chairperson of IEEE
Standard 1068, Recommended Motor Repair
Practices.
He is
married, has four children, and lives in Conroe.
