Jacqueline B. Morris
Named Young Engineer of the Year - 2007

Jacqueline (is an Electrical Engineer and) holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Orleans.

Before graduation from UNO in 2005, Jacqueline completed two electrical engineering co-op terms with Lyondell Chemical Company at their Lake Charles facility.  Upon graduation she began her career at Lyondell Chemical as an Associate Engineer in the Maintenance and Reliability group at the Channelview, TX facility.  For the past two years, Jacqueline has worked on a range of power projects including substations, transformers, UPS’s, motors, cable and switchgear.  She hopes to rotate into a project manager role in the spring to see a different aspect of engineering and to develop the different traits associated with being a project manager.

Jacqueline has served as the Houston IEEE GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Chair and previously held the position of IEEE Regional Student Representative before graduating.  As GOLD chair Jacqueline organized several personal and professional development meetings and dinners for the group.  She has been a member of IEEE since 2004 and attends various IEEE technical conferences to keep up with new technology and further her engineering development.

Along with her professional affiliation, Jacqueline has participated in various community involvement opportunities through her work.  She has chaired the children’s activities portion of Lyondell’s Family Day, tutored second grade students in math at Crenshaw Elementary, and helped to build a wheelchair ramp for an elderly couple through Lyondell’s “Rebuilding Together” program.  Jacqueline is also an active college recruiter, and in her spare time enjoys fishing and hunting.
