Saudi Aramco, the world's largest integrated oil company and a leading energy supplier, is looking to hire a number of qualified power system specialists, who are experienced in the planning and design of large scale generation (cogeneration, combined cycle, thermal, solar), transmission (115, 230 & 330 KV) and HV, MV, & LV industrial distribution systems.

The successful candidate will be able to apply power systems planning principles in conducting feasibility studies, conceptual design scoping, and economic evaluations for major grass root or expansion generation, transmission, & distribution projects; in support of the company’s oil & gas expansions. Responsibilities include building and optimizing generation models, developing electrical system designs and FEED scoping papers, conducting & reviewing load flow and network stability studies, short circuit, load flow, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis and other related studies. Candidate will also be responsible for reviewing & optimizing detailed design packages, project specifications, and conducting reliability studies of existing and new electrical generation and transmission facilities.

Minimum Requirements also include the following:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience (15+ years preferred); at least 5 years in power generation and transmission system planning; and 10 years in the design and operation of electrical systems in the area of heavy industrial, petrochemical, or utility power systems.
  • Experience and a solid understanding of power system analysis and modeling software (i.e. ETAP, Aspen, PSS/E, PSLF, CYME, EMTP, PSCAD and Thermoflow) is a must.
  • Working knowledge of industry regulations, codes and standards (IEC, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, etc.).
  • Experience in evaluating existing and designing new generation plants, substations, switchgear, protective relays, breakers, and transformers.
  • Experience in planning and executing engineering studies, economic evaluations, and preparing requests for budgetary approvals.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical power equipment (type testing, field testing, factory testing, etc…)
  • Detailed knowledge of power utilization equipment and application considerations including the various types of switchgear,
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software.
