We continue our year 2007 and for our next section meeting to be held on Thursday February 22, 2007 at the H.E.S.S. Building we will have a presentation by Brett Cook entitled “The Nuts and Bolts of Patents”. Brett Cooke is a Patent Attorney with Andrews Kurth LLP in Houston, Texas.  He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from the University of Houston Law Center (2006) and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M (1991)  (specializing in analog VLSI technology).  Before practicing law, Brett worked as an Area Sales Manager for the Electronics Division of Raychem (later Tyco Electronics) (manufacturer of splicing devices, heat shrink tubing, gels and wire and cable), as a Product and Sales Manager for Amercable (manufacturer of industrial, automotive and telecom wire and cable), and as a Patent Agent for Andrews Kurth. .  Brett has served 15 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, with 7 years active duty as a nuclear power qualified surface warfare officer, and he holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

OTC is just around the corner and we are looking for volunteers to participate with us in such event. As you know OTC is the largest Oil & Gas Technical conference. In 2006, more than 59,000 engineers, scientists, and managers attended OTC. Some 300 technical papers were presented and more than 2,200 companies displayed products and services in the technical exhibition.

The Continuing Education on Demand seminars will present “PMCS Considerations for Industrial Applications” on February 20 and 21st at Jacobs Engineering, 5995 Rogerdale Road. Houston, TX. 77072. Please contact Pat Rogers (patricia.rogers@hughessupply.com) for more information.

The executive committee and myself are always looking forward to hear from you. If you are interested in participating with us and/or have any comments or suggestions please feel free to contact us.
